I have a 1940 H that has a severe steering wobble, especially in road gear.
Does anyone have instructions on how to adjust the steering gear?
Is this issue beyond a simple adjustment?
Thanks for any information you can help with.

Ed, Check the front wheels for damage especially look to see if either wheel is bent. Check and make sure that both wheels have a even amount of air pressure. Other than checking the front wheels the steering gear box would be my next place to look. Good luck

There is no adjustment on the steering gears. I would check over the front tires and wheels to make sure they are in good shape. Then be sure the front wheel bearings are adjusted properly, then be sure both of the bearings in the gear are good, If all this checks out good, there is an aftermarket shim you can put between the bolster shaft and the axle pedestal to give it more positive caster it will help. Just be sure the pedestal is installed with the long part, with the extra bolt holes for a front drawbar is to the front. Oh and make sure your stop bolt is in place so the pedestal doesn't get turned 180 degrees. With the shim that will really make it wobble.

as long as the steering gear bearing's are good, the bolister bearing and bushing is good the wheels are true and the tires don't have any bumps or knots but there is still a problem. There is a aftermarket caster shim that goes between the bolister shaft and the pedestal. Gives it more + caster, that usually takes care of it . But it will make it a little harder to steer.
