The fuel line runs from the sediment bowl under the tank to the carburetor. Too much fuel to the carb should be controlled by the float inside the carb. When the float bowl in the carb fills up, the float pushes a little needle valve to shut off the flow. So if fuel is leaking out of the carb, it needs a rebuild; probably a replacement. There is only one way for gas to get into the clutch housing and that is from a leak some where in the system. It sounds like the carb is overflowing and the gas is working its way inside. It could be coming from the tank, fuel line, or the carb and working its way into the clutch housing. Check the tank for leaks and treat it with POR-15. No smoking.
